Feng Shui Clutter Clearing

Feng Shui Clutter Clearing
Got clutter? If you have a clutter problem but you don’t know where to start clearing it, you are not alone. More than 1.4 million Americans report suffering from chronic hoarding and clutter. The good news is that applying a few simple Feng Shui principles can get you on the road to clearing your clutter once and for all.

We all have some amount of clutter, but excessive clutter represents postponed decisions and the inability to move forward in your life. To make matters worse, we waste at least 55 minutes a day looking for things, and we never use 80 percent of what we own. Think about that for a while as you stare at the piles on paper on your desk, the unworn clothes in your closet, and the months of unread magazines in your family room.

Feng Shui principles believe that “nothing new comes into your life until you make room for it.” That means you need to start clearing out the old stuff you are holding on to in order to make room for new things to flow into your life.

But often we are so overwhelmed by our clutter that we don’t know where to start. Whether your clutter problem is major, minor, or somewhere in between, Feng Shui can come to your rescue.

If you have trouble deciding whether an object is clutter or a keeper, ask yourself these six questions to help decide.

1. Do I love it?

2. Do I need it?

3. Does it reflect who I am at this point in my life?

4. Does it have positive emotional attachment?

5. If it needs to be repaired am I willing to pay to fix it right now?

6. If I moved tomorrow would I pay a mover to take it with me?

If your answer was No to any one of the questions, the item is clutter and it's time to move it out of your life.

Feng Shui principles believe that “a cluttered space equals a cluttered mind.” To unclutter both your house and your mind, make sure you clear clutter with a prosperity consciousness (that is, I can afford to replace the item in the future if I need it) rather than a poverty mentality (I might never have enough money to replace the object in the future).
